Democrats, abruptly decided in mid-recount that any break in the punch
out-style ballot would be considered a valid vote, just as if the voter
had cleanly punched out the perforated tab."

"That's a turnabout from the method used earlier in the day," reported
Sunday's New York Post, "when the canvass panel directed election
workers to hold the ballots up to the light to see if a hole had been
punched through."
