Blue laws vary state to state.  In Massachusetts, they only just a couple
of years ago allowed retail stores to open on Sunday and are only allowed
of open on certain holidays with permission of the police chief (so some
towns allow it, some not).

In New Hanpshire the only hard liquor is sold by the state in stores
owned and operated by the NH State Liquor Commission.  There are no
private liquor stores.  You can buy beer and wine in the grocery store
(they began allowing that in the early 80s).
