Topic: Intel's View of Computer Architecture in the 90's
Speaker: Calvin Stith
Architecture Manager
Intel Corporation
Atlanta, GA
Location: Room 208, White Hall
Emory University
Date: Monday, March 2, 1992
Time: 7:30pm
Mr. Stith will be giving us a summary of the computing industry
from the introduction of the PC to the current time, and a view
toward what the industry trends will be for the 90's. He will
specifically address Intel's role in the industry for the 90's,
their response to the RISC challenge, and a roadmap of future
processor architecture.
(The Intel Corporation has also donated many nice "freebie" key
chains with a plastic-enclosed "chip" in each.)
DRAWING: Intel has also graciously supplied an 80387DX 33 Mhz.
co-processor for a door-prize! So bring something to write with
to fill out the Presentation Survey card at the meeting, which
will be used to determine the lucky winner.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to the efforts of one of our members, there will be a
showing at 6:45pm of Tape 3 of the AT&T video tape series: "System
Administration for UNIX System V Release 4.0" It will cover
Managing File Systems (partitions, mount/unmount, checking, ...)
The viewing time is thirty minutes, which will leave time for a few
questions and answers.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
It is with great pride that we recognize our Corporate Sponsors.
Being aware of the contributions made by the AUUG membership to the
UNIX community, these firms, both large and small, have made a
commitment to provide financial assistance for defraying the
operating expenses of AUUG. We are both pleased and grateful for
their sponsorship, and hope that they will continue to support AUUG
in the days to come.

Next Meeting: Monday, April 6, 1992; 7:30 pm
-------------------------------------------------------------------
For those who need some sustenance before the meeting, you will
find kindred AUUG spirits at "Everybody's Restaurant" near White
Hall. Drop in any time after 5:30pm to sit around and chew the fat
(and pepperoni). This is a chance for folks to get together and
exchange rumors, ideas, assistance, etc.
