Course, make damned sure you know the laws regarding citizen's arrests and the 
laws you think you're enforcing... A cop can often get away with a false arrest,
by stating that he had Probable Cause.  A civilian, even if he doesn't get 
arrested for false imprisonment, can lose his shirt in court over it.  And I'm
saying this as someone who's made a citizen's detention of a drunk driver
(course, did you know that security officers have NO arrest power that an 
ordinary citizen doesn't have?).  Besides, what many people forget, is that 
government doesn't have the job of protecting individuals, it has the job of
protecting society.  That task is usually attempted by investigating crimes
committed and arresting teh suspects, AFTER an incident occurs.  You're on
your own until you can not only summon police assistance, but until they arrive.
And even then, they don't have an obligation to act.
