Interesting post
A mall I grew up with was "Columbus Square". At the time, (mid to late
60's) it was an enclosed, one level, straight shot from Sears at the
west end to I think..J.C. Penny's east end. Dead center was a "Harvest
House Cafeteria"; an after church dinner spot occasionally on Sundays.
There was a "head shop", too. Posters, blacklights, etc. the name
escapes me....forbidden fruit for a wide eyed ten year old.
I saw the movie "The Blue Max" at the theatre there, next to Sears.
Early -mid 70's it was added on to, revamped, etc. A "tee" to the
south was added on, perhaps that was 2 story. Sears was still the
flagship at the western end, J.C. was at the tip of the "tee" south. I
had since moved to Rome, where I wondered when Riverbend would flood
<G>.
I found this link, that appears to want to wrap. Oh well.

Columbus is in the midst of a $50.4 million project that will
produce a state-of-the-art new main library. It is scheduled to open in
May 2003.
The new library will be built on the site of the former Columbus Square
Mall on Macon Road. The mall will be torn down and, in its place, an
approximately 100,000-square- foot facility will be built and will more
than double the size of the current main library, the 51-year-old W.C.
Bradley Memorial Library.
Hm. Many happy hours spent at Bradley, before I knew there was such a
thing as a "dweeb". I made up for that, at the head shop, howsomeever.
