(And then tried to blame Eve.) >Which one was worse? Tricked, lied to, whatever -- the serpent told her that if she ate the fruit (note: no apple is mentioned, just fruit) she would be like God. As to who did what, the relevant verse reads like this in the Revised Standard Version (Gen 3:6) "So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, and he ate." Kinda hard to know from that text just what Adam's state of mind or intent was. Perhaps nuances in the ancient Hebrew text would clear this up, but I"m not an ancient languages scholar. Although I could put you in touch with several. (Long story) >And why exactly do you think Jesus had a human mother, but >not a human father? (Aside from biological reasons, of course.) >Scott Scott, this is a topic that I will be happy to discuss with you in email, with copies to anyone who happens to be interested. But not here. This isn't the place. There is one thing I will state in advance -- I do not DEBATE spiritual matters. If you ask me what I believe, I will tell you. If you ask, I will tell you why. But if you are asking me this question for the purpose of "proving" me wrong, (which is admittedly not your style from what I've seen) let's not even start.
