This system has a serious drawback in that it makes actually
DELIVERING the mail a real nightmare. Should a letter addressed to
someone right on the border of countries A and B be sent to the
airport in A or the airport in B? Should postal routes be based on a
grid system? What if 4 grids come together at the top of a remote
mountain, will 4 separate postmen have to drive up the circuitous
route to the mountain top?

Grids are great for mapping applications, but I think postal codes
must be based on poiltical and practical considerations.
