My owner's manual has a page in it that completely decodes the VIN for most vehicles by field, and gives valid entries for all the possible variations of vehicle the owners manual could be put in (V6, V8, 4WD, 2WD, etc...) It might even have information where a complete list of entries could be found... I'll have to go check...
