There has been a problem with the crash-recovery mechanism of the editor,
which is the system that sends you mail after a system crash telling you
how to restart any editing you had in progress. Due to a careless mistake,
this stuff hasn't been working the last few days. The problem is now
believed to be fixed; please let me know about any further problems.
