The Good News:

* This is the Civic DX model, not the base Civic model. It makes a world
of difference: bigger engine, better transmission, better wheels, better
suspension, and better upholstery. The base Civic was the oddball in the
Civic lineup in 1988, and everything on that model was cheaper that the
rest of the Civics.
* One of Car & Driver magazine's 10 Best cars of 1988
* 1.5-liter 4-cylinder 16-valve engine
* 5-speed manual transmission (Honda's legendary smooth shifting)
* Hatchback makes it great for hauling your life around
* Air Conditioning
* 138,300 miles, average for a 12-year-old car
* Externally in very good shape, considering it's 12 years old ...
* Internals very well maintained -- oil changed religiously every 4000
miles, never any major problems. Have detailed records of entire service
history; all service done at Honda dealers (not discount shops).
* Only one owner (me)
* Non-smoking (i.e. it doesn't stink like cigarettes)
* Mileage lately: 30 city, 35 highway. 400-mile range on highway.
* Very stable at high speeds
* Tilt steering wheel
* Very nice stereo system with CD player (brand new!) and four high
quality speakers.

The Bad News:

* The upholstery has worn through on the window side of both front seats
* The front right fender is dented from a minor accident years ago that
I never bothered to get fixed.
* The left-side mirror is damaged, but it still works fine, as long as
you don't try to move it around a lot.
* A few door dings on both sides
* Rear window wiper doesn't work (but I've never used it anyway)
* Rear window defogger doesn't work (but it clears up after the car
heats up anyway)
* Tires will likely need to be replaced within a year (current tread
depth is 5/32")

The Summary:

* A fun and reliable car, well maintained
* Good handling
* Very smooth at highway speeds (even Atlanta highway speeds)
* Brand new CD stereo

For comparison, this car is worth:

* $3,715 according to Kelley Blue Book
* $3,385 according to Cars.com
* $3,070 according to CarPrices.com

I was intending to drive it until it dropped dead, but I finally got
tired of waiting and bought a new car last month. Please give this car a
good home!
