Hello,

I am a 98 Graduate of GaTech's CS program. I am returning in August
of 2001 to pursue the MS degree in CS. I currently live and work in
Colorado Springs for Agilent Technologies.

I need to remotely locate a place to live from August 15th 2001 to
August 2002. I am a single white straight male. I am 26 years old.
I am a professional software engineer and a very responsible person.
My income is guaranteed by Agilent Technologies while I'm attending
school, so there won't be any issues with payment of rent. I have
excellent rental references.

I'm a very flexible, easy going, fun loving person. I would like to
rent a room for this one-year period if possible. I prefer a location
within walking distance to Tech, but barring that, I would be willing
to live in a nice place nearby (no farther than the belt-line).

Please reply here or contact me at (719) 590-3693 if you have a place
that might work for me...

Thanks,
Mike Holloway

I hate to be a smartass, but I can't resist. Kudos for being a straight
white male. I'm sure we all needed the extreneous info. If I was a male
looking for a female room mate, I probably would like to read the line
"single straight female seeking roommate."

I don't see a problem with this. He was just specifying in case someone
has a preference. Remember, he's trying to find a place to stay without
actually visiting to look around, so it's in his interest to disclose as
fully as possible any relevant aspects of his personality.

Exactly.... People don't like to just pick up j-random guy.... at least
you know a little bit more about the package before you live with it!

M$ wrote it, you think they could make them work together, how hard
can it be, some geek in Finland didn't seem to have any trouble

FYI,
I have looked for a place in the past. I either planned ahead and made
arrangments with friends, stayed in a hotel for a few days, or asked my
friends if they knew anyone. I don't like living with strangers. But I
guess if I was looking for a roommate on a newsgroup, I would prefer a
description including info such as nonsmoker, no pets, good hygiene,
shower and bathe daily.

wow, you knew people? an incoming grad student might not have that
luxury. If you're going to flame someone, at least take the time to put
a smidgin of thought into it, people will notice the difference.
