More than 8 rounds for a Colt 45?

I own two model O1970CM Colt 45's (Special Combat Government Edition)
and their capacity is eight rounds. I've heard rumors of safe and
reliable 10 and even 11 round magazines. But this is obviously a
third-party item and not supported by the oem. Can anyone shed some
light?!?

I believe the Wilson Combat Bureaucrat is a 10 round magazine. I *think*
that Shooting Star/Chip McCormick probably do a version as well. But both
of these magazines are good, but not as reliable as the classic Wilson 8-rd
mag. And that doesn't project out of the mag-well, either.

Alternatively, there are good wide-body kits from Enterprise Nationale.

Try also USA magazines, but make sure that you get to cycle them in your
gun first. They have a tendency to jam sometimes. My Ruger 45 has a clip
that holds 10 rounds but it sticks out the back of the gun.

Try to find a Starline mag they've got 8 & 10 round magazines for the
old single stack guns. I've got 2x10 round and 2x8 round and they
function perfectly. The Starline 10 round mag sticks out the bottom of
my Norinco 1911a1 compact about 1" and the 8 rounder sits flush.
I think Edmonton Indoor Range still has one or two 10's and a bunch of
8's.

Better than the USA mags are the ten rounders made by Wilson.
