I happen to think you are right.  Also, we should not dismiss the fact
that the norwegian warriors (aka vikings) conquered many european
lands and intermarried with their people.  Then some of the most
independent and warrior-like of the now homogenized warriors shipped
to the new world;  possibly because it represented a new land to
conquer.

You know the vikings were the ones who went through europe like a
knife through butter a rapin' and pillagin' and killin' all along the
way.  I'm not sure what happened to them, might have been something in
the water.

So it can be said we are now in the land of the American Warrior.

However, to be civilized is to restrain the ability to commit mayhem.
To be incapable of committing mayhem is not the mark of the civilized,
merely the domesticated.  We can create serious mayhem,but we
don't....usually.
