On 5 Jun 2000 18:28:56 GMT, Chris Sidi <sidi@angband.org> wriggled free of
the leather straps and managed to scrawl:
>They have ads on TV where they describe a store's location as "next to
>Disco Kroger." I guess it's becoming a landmark on par with "the Big
>Chicken (aka Chix0ren)." How can you tell "Disco" Kroger is "Disco"?
>Why is it called that?

Disco was king in the late '70s and early '80s, and Atlanta boasted
Limelight, one of America's most elaborate disco palaces. Limelight (which
reopened in 1997 as Atlanta Alive) occupied a cavernous space in the Kroger
shopping center at the corner of Peachtree Road and Piedmont in Buckhead;
to this day, locals still know that supermarket as Disco Kroger, its
nickname from the nonstop party days. Limelight was a multilevel temple of
decadence and delight, with an astounding light show and thumping speakers
the size of small houses on the dance floor. No Atlanta club has again
equaled the splendid excess of Sunday afternoons at Limelight, when
thousands of twirling revelers would pack the disco at 3 PM for tea dance.
