| to commit murder than are whites.  Look back over the years and it has
| been 9

| so much when a black killer is jailed ?   They come out like the thug was
| a political prisoner.  It's not my people being murdered (yet) so my

A click on the graph does not present raw data in this instance, it presents a
doj estimate. The doj give the total number of offenders involved in these
crimes as 19254 (9051 white, 9733 black 470 other) and they tell you the data
came from the Supplementary Homicide Reports, 1976-98. When you actually
review that data (click on Additional information on that page and download
the Easy Access software) the generated reports inform you that for 1998 they
know the race of 14167 offenders, it gives the total number of murder cases as
16910, but those 14167 people only represented the offenders in 11670 murders
(69%, the same as the UCR report), and that the race and number of offenders
is unknown in 5240 cases.
