The Georgia Tech Amateur Radio Club resumes its monthly amateur radio
testing sessions this coming Sunday, January 23. The exams will be
given in room 301 of the Student Center at 2:30 p.m.

For the past ten years, it has been possible to earn an amateur radio
license without knowing Morse Code. In recent FCC action, Morse has
been further de-emphasized as a testing element. Effective April 15,
the minimum code proficiency for HF phone privileges will drop from 13
to 5 words per minute. By passing the appropriate exams between now
and then, you will be able to communicate with ham radio operators
worldwide before semesters end.

If you wish to take an exam for a new license or an upgrade, please
bring:

1) The testing fee of $6.65

2) Photo ID (a drivers license or Buzz Card will suffice)

3) If you already have an amateur radio license, bring the signed,
original license AND ONE PHOTOCOPY THEREOF.

4) If you have a CSCE for partial credit toward a license or an
upgrade, bring the signed, original CSCE AND ONE PHOTOCOPY THEREOF.

There are no public copying facilities in the Student Center. The
nearest public copiers are in the library, and require the purchase of
a Georgia Tech copy card. Non-Tech examinees will be better served by
dropping by Kinkos or Mailboxes Etc.

Please call Brennan Price, amateur call KU4WJ, at 404 607-7466 for
further information.

73 (Best Regards),
