As previously announced, git.* newsgroups do not propogate off campus anymore. This has been slightly ammended to allow for coops, alumni and other people on the net who would like to keep in touch with Tech. The new scheme allows for a small handfull of newsgroups to be distributed to the world at large. Unlike the past where distributions were hardly ever headed due to technical reasons, if you specify a 'git' distribution noone outside Tech will see it. Below is a list detailing how each group will propogate: git.general: This group's articles will be distributed off campus. No articles posted to it from off campus will be distributed on campus. This effectively makes it 'read only' by non-gatech sites as far as the campus is concerned. git.alumni: This group will distribute its articles off campus as well as _accept_ articles from off campus users. As stated above distributions are enforced. git.talk.misc: git.talk.abortion: git.talk.african-american: git.talk.politics: git.talk.religion: These groups follow the same policy as git.alumni. NOTE the absense of git.talk.policy. It will not be propogated to the outside world. If you have any questions or concerns please forward them to me at michael.mealling@oit.gatech.edu.
