This Thursday, Steve Adelson, a PhD student in Computing, will talk about efficient generation of stereoscopic images. A stereo pair consists of two almost identical images, each of which is presented to one eye. Steve will show the potential of taking advantage of this similarity, saving up to 95% of the rendering time required to create the second of the pair. He will also discuss exploiting the large degree of coherence between consecutive animation frames. Using both image and space coherence in one algorithm, he will demonstrate the creation of inferred animation frames from predecessor or successor frames, reducing rendering time upwards of 50%. The meeting is Thursday, Jan 14, at noon, in Pettit 102. Sodas and cookies will be served. Joan GVU Center College of Computing 404/853-0672 FAX 404/853-0673 email: joan@cc
