Most GNU software is written by volunteers. Given the state of the economy, some of you may now have time on your hands. If you'd like, you can spend some of the time writing new software for GNU. If you are interested in spending time on this, contact gnu@prep.ai.mit.edu to get the task list (your own ideas for tasks may be useful too) and the GNU coding standards.
