GNU Shogi and its protege GNU X Shogi play the Japanese version of
Chess known as "Shogi." The major difference from Western Chess is
that captured pieces can be returned into play.

The latter is the X windows front end for GNU Shogi.
The former is the brain/engine which actually plays the Shogi.

The distributions are on prep.ai.mit.edu (18.71.0.38) in pub/gnu,
via anonymous ftp:

-rw-r--r-- 1 14910 wheel 150449 Mar 30 23:07 gnushogi-1.0.6.tar.Z
-rw-r--r-- 1 14910 wheel 120617 Mar 30 23:07 xshogi-1.0.6.tar.Z

Send any and all problems to bug-gnu-shogi@prep.ai.mit.edu.
The mailing list info-gnu-shogi@prep.ai.mit.edu is for pertinent
announcements. The mailing list help-gnu-shogi is for users to help
one another and share games and information.
Ask help-gnu-shogi-request, info-gnu-shogi-request, or
help-gnu-shogi-request, all @prep.ai.mit.edu, to join the respective
list.

Thanks to Matthias, Len, and Richard.
