Hello, I just compiled and ran bash on our Alliant FX/4 (bsd-4.3 more or less). First of all, what a pleasant surprise! I can tell that this is going to be a very nice shell. Now, It seemed to run fine until I typed ^D, which I thought might cause me to exit the shell, but instead it caused a core dump. I don't know if this is a bug with bash or bison (I used bison-1.03). I have used bison-1.03 for other things, apparently without problems. Here's what happened: ------------------------------------- Version: 1.02 Bison Version: 1.03 Hardware: Alliant FX/4 OS: Concentrix 5.0 (supposedly 4.3BSD) Compiler: GCC all the way (from csh) /usr/local/src/bash-1.02[90] bash bash$ ^D Bus error (core dumped) /usr/local/src/bash-1.02[91] adb bash core corefile: program=`bash' status=`bus-error (unknown code)' ready $c |0| _yy_readline_get+0x10c= _yy_readline_get() |0| _yy_getc+0x12= (function?)() |0| _shell_getc+0x48= _yy_getc() |0| _read_token+0xcc= _shell_getc() |0| _yylex+0x1aa= _read_token(0x0) |0| _yyparse+0x288= _yylex() |0| _read_command+0x5e= _yyparse() |0| _reader_loop+0xd6= _read_command() |0| _main+0x914= _reader_loop() |0| start+0x3a= _main(0x1, 0xfd7e0010, 0xfd7e0018) ------------------------------------------------------------- I will be glad to provide any more information that you want. Keep up the good work! Jeff Treece Sabbagh Associates treece@sabbagh.com ... iuvax.cs.indiana.edu!sabbagh!treece (812) 339-8273
