First an apparent bug (1.04 on Microvax II, Ultrix 2.2). The !* history mechanism expands to the zero'th word if the previous line was a single word. It should expand to the null string in that case. Suggestions: 1) add a prompt string code similar to \w that just includes the basename of the current directory (the last part after the final /). 2) provide a mechanism to rebind keys on the fly, .inputrc is nice but I would like to able to do this from the shell. First an apparent bug (1.04 on Microvax II, Ultrix 2.2). The !*
history mechanism expands to the zero'th word if the previous line was a
single word. It should expand to the null string in that case.
Thanks, I have received this bug report, and fixed the relevant bug.
Suggestions:
1) add a prompt string code similar to \w that just includes the basename
of the current directory (the last part after the final /).
\W does exactly that already.
2) provide a mechanism to rebind keys on the fly, .inputrc is nice but I
would like to able to do this from the shell.
C-x C-r re-reads the ~/.inputrc file. Clumsy, but possible.
