I have been playing a bit with gnuan. In trying to analyze a game, I
set the max_time variable to 10 mins and max-depth to 34. This is what
I obtained.
Move White Black Score Depth Best Line
------------------------------------------------------------------
1 e4* 13 8 g1f3 g8f6 b1c3 e7e6 e2e4 f8b4 e4e5 f6g4
e5* -12000 1
2 Nf3* -12000 1
Nc6* -12000 1
Bad move. Bb5 Board position is:
R N B Q K B N R
P P P P P P P P
- - - - - - - -
- - - - - - - -
- - - - - - - -
- - - - - - - -
p p p p p p p p
r n b q k b n r
White's percentage was 0.00%. Black's percentage was 0.00%.
Elapsed time was 601 seconds.
The board position is not updated at all. This does not happen when I
set the value of max_time to 5 mins. In that case the whole analysis
went fine. Looks like a bug, and my feeling is that an out of array
bound condition is causing gnuan to behave in this manner. Any clues
anyone?
On another issue, I didn't like the fact that gnuan did not use the book
to screen out book moves from its analysis, so I have modified it to
skip moves that can be found in the book. Unfortunately, Stuart
has mentioned that the next patch release with involve a book with a
million positions. Obviously, the book entry list will have to be
redesigned and my addition to gnuan will no longer work. Wonder if
there is anyway this addition could be incorporated into pl 60. Stuart?
