I need help with gnuchess!

I'm running SCO ODT 2.0 on a 486/33. I would like very much to
be able to run gnuchess on this machine. I got the sources
gnuchess-4.0) and they seemed to compile without any problems. When I
try to execute it though, very shortly into the game I get a memory
fault and then a core dump. I used cc rather than gcc to compile the
sources as I don't currently have access to gcc.

If anyone out there in netland can give me a clue as to how to
make gnuchess work on my platform without having to build gcc first,
or can send me the gnuchess binaries or point me in the direction of
where to get them, I will be eternally grateful! I would really like
to be able to play chess on my UNIX system.

Oh, also if someone can point me to where I can get the athena
widgets, I'd like to be able to build xboard also. Thanks in advance!
