FIONREAD value ?

I'm trying to compile gnuchess4 on a sun sparcstation OS4.1.1
using gcc 2.00. As the README says:

     "There is a problem with the gcc 2.00 pre processor and FIONREAD
      will not compile properly on gcc 2.00. If you get an error
      message you may need to substitute a value for FIONREAD in
      ElapsedTime."

  What value should I use for FIONREAD?

     "The correct line for a SunsparcOS4 is included
      as a comment. cpp on 2.00 does not substitute in quotes,
      sunOS cc and gcc 1.40 handle this correctly."

  Mabye I'm looking at the wrong file, I couldn't find such a comment.

**from dspcom.c**

#ifdef FIONREAD
  if (i = ioctl ((int) 0,FIONREAD, &nchar))
    {
      printf ("ioctl failure is this gcc 2.00? See README %d %d\n", i, errno);
      perror ("FIONREAD");
      exit (1);
    }

  if (nchar)
    {
      if (!flag.timeout)
	flag.musttimeout = true;
      flag.bothsides = false;
    }
#endif /*FIONREAD*/

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

The FIONREAD stuff has been clarified in the most recent patch level.
I suggest you toss out the version you have now and get patchlevel 55
(out now) or 56 (due very soon).
