I am enjoying playing the MS Windows version of GNU Chess 3.21 -- the computer always gives me a good stiff fight. My question is: has anyone compiled version 4.0 of the source for Windows? I'd appreciate a pointer to the binaries.... -- Greg "Mockingbird" Franklin Interviewer: "Sir, how do you spell relief?" f67700241@ccit.arizona.edu Dan: "R-O-L-A-I-D-S-E." Unfortunately, the graphical port of gnuchess "3.21" to Windows was not done in a way that allowed the same sources to continue to compile for Unix. So 4.0 is based on 3.1, and there is no Windows version of 4.0. It would be nice if this could be fixed somehow. The Windows version 3.21 is a nice piece of work. I think it is possible to compile 4.0 for the PC and run it in strictly text mode (similar to "gnuchess" or "gnuchessn" in the Unix gnuchess 4.0 distribution), but I haven't tried this. There is certainly code there that purports to work on the PC. --Tim
