Has anyone successfully compiled Lemacs??

I got Lemacs (I don't remember the version) a while back off of either
gatekeeper or prep.ai and have been unable to get the makefile to go more
than a few steps before it complains.. I checked out the file and it is
attempting to use a command that I don't have on my system (I think it was
something similar to ld...).  Anyway, I finally gave up in frustration and
considered it a hopeless case..

I was just curious if anyone else out there WAS able to get this beast up
and running and on what platform (I'm using a Sun 3/60 w/ SunOS 4.1.1)

Just curious..
