One of the problems I have is I can't get emacs to recognize the number of lines my terminal has. I telnet from my PC (which has 50 lines but is otherwise VT-100) to my UNIX host. I use STTY ROWS 50 and vi happily uses all my screen. I heard that you have to either reference the termcap entry with the TERM environment variable, or set TERMCAP equal to the termcap entry that you want. This works fine (for me) with version 18.58. Get your system administrator to upgrade, there are many other improvements and bug fixes.
