Because of this, I'm seriously considering >switching over to the evil VI editor Heretic! >to save my hands from permanent >damage (no kidding!). Is anyone else in the same boat? Not I, but I've got large hands, don't use C-f & C-b much (I prefer M-f, M-b, C-a, C-e, and mouse clicks), and don't touch type, so I'm not afraid to hold Control with my left hand and F or B with my right. >Does anyone have other suggestions? Switching from Emacs to vi because of the C-f and C-b bindings is rather drastic. That's like switching from a Ferrari to a Beetle because you don't like the seating position. How about just adjusting the seat? Rebind forward-char and backward-char to whatever you find most convenient. Even if you wanted vi-like behavior, you could get it with one of the many vi emulating modes available *without* giving up the full power of Emacs. -- Dave Sill (de5@ornl.gov) Computers should work the way beginners Martin Marietta Energy Systems expect them to, and one day they will.
