Emacs 19.28 on SCO ODT 3.0 trashes my fontserver

I have just compiled Emacs 19.28 on my SCO ODT 3.0 box and that went
fine - no problems. Then when I start Emacs with no command line switches
it just hangs there on the command line and nothing happens. Then when
I check whether my X11-fontserver is running I notice that Emacs for
some reason that I cannot find out has made the fontserver terminate.
The fs-errors file only says 'Notice: Terminating'. Restarting the font-
server doesn't help and after a short while my X-terminal goes haywire
and panics with a misaligned memory access.

The X-terminal I'm using is NCD 19c with latest version of NCDWare.

The fontserver and the X-terminal has been running for years without
any problems, so I'm pretty sure that the problem is related to Emacs.

On another SCO ODT 3.0 box I'm running Emacs 19.25 and there I experien-
ced the same problems until I added the -font 8x13 switch to Emacs. This
does unfortunately not fix the problem for Emacs 19.28.

Starting Emacs with the -nw switch works OK.

Does anybody have a clue as what to do??
