Starting from emacs 18.59, clash detection is possible even in systems with short (i.e. limited to 14 characters) file names. To enable this feature, it is necessary to put the following lines in the relevant m-xxxx-.h file: #define SHORT_FILE_NAMES #define CLASH_DETECTION Unfortunately, none of the affected m-xxx.h files in the emacs 18.59 distribution contain those lines. Perhaps it would be nice if all those who work on machines with short file names sent a patch for their m-xxx.h file. I think also the NEWS file should mention this.
