What is the fuss? Is emacs-19 doing away with search-exit-char? I have set it to 0; I have always thought that ESC was a bad choice, since want all commands to work when I get where I'm going. All I have to remember is about another second control-space if I mean to issue set-mark-command. If someone has a different inclination about a character choice, it's a free, well a copyleft, world.
