If M-x vm is called when my inbox is empty and there is no new
mail, it signals the error:
Wrong type argument: arrayp, nil

I never encountered this error in vm-5.31.

It seems that it's trying to find headers in
a message that doesn't exist... There doesn't seem
to be a check to make sure that the current message isn't nil.

The following is a backtrace captured from setting debug-on-error t.
I've removed the byte-code lines. The problem is very
easily duplicated at my end, so let me know if you need any more info.

Signalling: (wrong-type-argument arrayp nil)
  vm-vheaders-of(nil)
  vm-preview-current-message()
  vm(nil nil)
  call-interactively(vm)
  execute-extended-command(nil)
* call-interactively(execute-extended-command)
