Using vm-mail, I inadvertantly sent a message with unbalanced parentheses in the To line. To: (Cog Studies Program the actual people getting the message, including myself, being listed on the Bcc: line. When I next tried to read my mail using vm, I got an error message to the effect that the variable "address-start" was undefined and I couldn't read new mail (including the Bcc copy to myself and the various bounced copies coming from other machines). I was able to correct the problem by using find-file to read my INBOX and then deleting the offending messages.
