VM 5.31 (beta), Emacs 18.58.7 on a Sparcstation. When a letter has a From line with no colon but not From: line, the From line is not displayed, and the buffer begins with a To: line with no sender displayed. This is confusing enough as it is, but it has already been discussed. However, I recently received a letter with no From: line and a From line that had a continuation on the next line. The visible part of the buffer began with the continuation of the From line, which was unintelligible; I thought I had somehow tickled the narrow-toregion bug. -- David Grabiner, grabiner@zariski.harvard.edu "We are sorry, but the number you have dialed is imaginary." There's nothing strange about this. VM displays only headers by default and the UUCP From line is not a header. If there was no From header VM could not display it, so the display began with the next availble selected header. > This is confusing enough as it is, but it has already been discussed. > > However, I recently received a letter with no From: line and a From line > that had a continuation on the next line. I suppose I could make VM smarter about dealing with this crud, But you never get anythign fixed by endlessly tolerating broken and misconfigured systems.
