Hi,
	I can't get vm 5.32 to start on ULTRIX 4.1. When I invoke vm,
I get an error and it stops. I turned debug-on-error on and tried
again and here's what I got (I hope it's useful to you):

Signalling: (invalid-function (macro lambda nil (byte-code "@" [(and (bufferp vm-summary-buffer) (null (buffer-name vm-summary-buffer)) (setq vm-summary-buffer nil))] 1)))
  vm-check-for-killed-summary()
  byte-code("@^ C_
!?@@_
!
  vm()
  eval-region(18 22 #<buffer *scratch*>)
  byte-code("BCD E
  eval-print-last-sexp(nil)
  call-interactively(eval-print-last-sexp)

Let me take this opportunity to say that I really like vm and am
experiencing great hardship now that I have to read my mail with the
Unix mail program. (A friend of mine said that seeing me read my mail
in Emacs with vm was what finally convinced him to switch from vi.)

Thanks a lot.

Sounds like you have a build problem. Use the following Makefile
to rebuild VM. Remvoe all the .elc in the VM source directory
and then type make.

#!/bin/sh
# shar:	Shell Archiver  (v1.22)
#
#	Run the following text with /bin/sh to create:
#	  Makefile
#
sed 's/^X//' << 'SHAR_EOF' > Makefile &&
XEMACS=emacs
X
XVM:
X	$(EMACS) -batch -q -l ./vm-message.el -l ./vm-misc.el -f batch-byte-compile *.el
X	cat vm-*.elc > vm.elc
X
Xvm:	vm.texinfo
X	$(EMACS) -batch -q vm.texinfo -f texinfo-format-buffer -f save-buffer
X
Xall:	VM vm
SHAR_EOF
chmod 0644 Makefile || echo "restore of Makefile fails"
exit 0
