I recently pulled a version of Gnu emacs over from the host uunet.uu.net via anonymous FTP in binary mode (using the BGET command in version 3.2 of Wollongong FTP). I then concatenated the files, decompressed using Martin Minow's decompress utility (with mods by Marty Sasaki) and restored the files using a version of VMSTAR. My problem? I can't get the darned thing to compile correctly. I should note that I am running on a uVAX VMS version 4.5 with VAX C version 2.3. Before I get too frustrated I wonder if there is a better way. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. However, please reply directly to me since I am not currently a subscriber to the list.
