I am using Epoch 4.0.25 (yes, I know it's not the most recent, but I suspect this question is relevant for most versions of Epoch and emacs) on HP 9000 platforms (300s, 400s, 700s) running HP-UX 8.07. My question is - How do I teach Epoch (or emacs) to preserve the ownership of files when they are edited and resaved? Currently, if I modify a file owned by userxxx and resave it, it is then owned by me. I think (unless someone can point out why not) I would prefer that the original ownership be preserved. Thanks for any help. this request cross-posted to gnu.epoch.misc and gnu.emacs.help -- Mike Kelley Bldg 220, Rm B206 National Institute of Standards and Technology Gaithersburg, MD 20899 (301) 975-3722 FAX (301) 926-2746 INTERNET: kelley@epg.nist.gov BITNET: mkelley@nbsenh.BITNET
