Setting titles for Screen Windows??

I am running epoch 4.2 on a Solbourne Series5 600 machine under OS/PM 4.1A.1,
and I am unable to set the titles of my screend windwos.  I am using the
'swm' window manager under X11R4.  Following are the things I tried without
too much success.

Method I:
Added the following in my .Xdefaults file.
	epoch.screen.title:            GNU Epoch


Method II:
Added the following in my .emacs file.

(setq epoch::screen-properties
	(cons '(title . "GNU Epoch") epoch::screen-properties))
