Thank you for your answers.

I recompiled Epoch in my machine, with some modifications to certain files
(screen.c, xutil,c keyboard.c, buffer.c an few others). It compiled without
problems and work fine; in fact, it had worked fine before.

The problem are still:

1. Do not recognize certain special keys in my spanish keyboard. For
example, to put an accented 'a' in vi I press the accute-accent key,
followed by the 'a', and that is all; in Epoch, when I press the
accute-accent key, it appears in the screen as an extended char.

2. The characters that appear in the screen do not always match what I
press in the keyboard. For example, the 'openning exclamation mark'
(sorry if that is not a good english expression) is translated to an
   accented i.

Any suggestions?

Rafael Morales.
