I'm trying to use epoch on an X-terminal via modem (Xremote). Unfortunately, epoch is very dumb at scrolling: it always redraws the entire window. Emacs is very clever, but may spend a long time figuring out what to send to the tty, thus simplifying epoch makes sense to me. But, it would be nice if epoch knew how to shift the bits which are already on the screen up or down and only redraw the new stuff. With LBX (low bandwidth X) getting into the X11R6 release, this should be of general interest (unless we all have 56Kb ISDN by then). If someone can point me at the code to fix, I'd take a stab at it... Thanks, Thorsten von Eicken
