On a sparc-sun-solaris2 (Solaris 2.1) g++-2.3.2 compiles libg++-2.2.91 in such a way that programs linked with the latter cause gdb-4.7 to emit messages like: "Invalid symbol data: invalid character \073 at symbol pos 730". Gdb trips on this one symbol, and thus is unusable on C++ programs. While compiling libg++/iostreams, the compiler emitted a warning that dbx format does not support templates yet; I don't know if the two phenomena are related. Nathan Myers myersn@ece.orst.edu
