g++ 1.36.0- dumps core on the following code. It is the latest
version from labrea (10/11/89). I work on a sun3 running OS 3.5.

class A {
public:
        void foo ();
};

A&
bar ()
{
        A* a = new A;
        return *a;
}

A& aa = bar ();

main ()
{
        aa.foo ();
}
