GCC on Alpha OSF is running just fine; don't think anyone has played with g++ as yet. Note that the code generated as a cross compiler will be much poorer than that generated native (has to do with size of datatypes and what kind of optimizations gcc will then do; Alpha OSF is a full 64 bit system), and I don't think we've tried it as a cross compiler since we're native. So you will need an Alpha OSF system for best results (or some other 64 bit system; just try to find one!). I'll leave it to the author to comment if he desires (or not, if he doesn't want to be pestered about it). Otherwise, all I'll say is "Alpha support will be in a future release of gcc". - Jim Gettys
