I have compiled GNU gcc 2.2.2 on Interactive Systems Corp Sys V/386 release 3.2. When Trying to compile a template class with debugging turned on ( -g ), I got the following: Assempler: geo1.c aline 512 : Illegal character after '<' aline 512 : syntax error . . . I assume this is some incompatibility between as and gcc. My question is A.) would this be remedied by using the GNU assembler ( gas ), and B.) does that mean I have to recompile gcc/g++, or is there a switch to set somewhere that I haven't found yet? Thanks. -- Michael.Conner@mixcom.com

This problem will be fixed in the next release of gcc. gas has
nothing to do with it.

Oooh! A handsome stranger! And me, without my shoes on.
