Hello, Is it possible to debug GNU's g++ code using SUN's dbxtool? Even w/ using the g++ -gdbx option, dbxtool crashes when I attempt to "debug" the executable. I have successfully used dbx and GNU's gdb but would prefer a window based debugger. Is there another debugger which offers this type of environment? The current system configuration is: SUN SPARC2, OS 4.1.2 GNU gcc 2.2.2 GNU gdb 4.5 SUN dbxtool dated 2/13/91, sum: 01322 144 If someone is familiar w/ debugging g++, I would appreciate any assistance which you could offer. Thanks in advance, Michael

Compiling probably involved access to the athena widget library, which is present if you have X11R4, X11R5, and OW3 (i think). OW2 seems to be missing this, though. Otherwise you could use mxgdb, which needs Motif libraries, which we don't have. If you have OW2, you could try to just get the athena library. (libXaw). Better, get X11R4 or X11R5, as Xsun is much faster and time efficient compared to xnews. Klamer BTW Instead of dbxtool i often use xdbx, when i use Sun C++. And when using sun C (cc) i use ups. But that is for another newsgroup... -- Klamer Schutte Tel: +31-53-892778 Fax: +31-53-340045 Faculty of electrical engineering -- University of Twente, The Netherlands preferred: klamer@mi.el.utwente.nl SMTP: klamer@utelmi01.el.utwente.nl
