I am running a single-threaded application on an SGI running IRIX 6.x. All the libraries have been compiled -g, and the objects are all ELF. As long as I am stepping through the source files that make up my portion of the program, I can debug just fine. However, whenever I attempt to stop in any function which is defined in one of the dynamically loaded shared libraries, gdb treats these as if they have no symbols, i.e., wont give me a line number or a file name, and wont display or 'next' through them. One added quirk to my setup: I have my libraries in a nonstandard place and use environmental variables to point the loader to the right place. The version of dbx that comes with IRIX has some way of following the program's progress into these libraries -- and since it is clear that the debugging symbol format is correct for gdb (since it works on the local files), is there a trick to getting it to look at the library code as well? I am using the most recent version of gdb, configured mips-sgi-irix5.3. My source is compiled with the SGI native C compiler. --- Douglas Scott | Silicon Graphics, Inc. dscott@esd.sgi.com | Digital Media Systems (415) 933-6404
