Hi - I have a problem with creating shared libraries using gcc 2.7.0 and libg++ v2.7.0 at a sun sparc. The errors are the following (I create the object-file with option '-fPIC'): :g++ -shared -o libout basic/*.o collect2: ld returned 2 exit status ld: /KM2/local/lib/libstdc++.a(iostream.o): assert pure-text failed: reference to ios virtual tableat d3a8 in /KM2/local/lib/libstdc++.a ld: /KM2/local/lib/libstdc++.a(iostream.o): assert pure-text failed: reference to ios virtual tableat d3ac in /KM2/local/lib/libstdc++.a ld: /KM2/local/lib/libstdc++.a(iostream.o): assert pure-text failed: reference to [offset] at d3f0 in /KM2/local/lib/libstdc++.a I don't know why it returns errors, cause it runs without any problems under linux on a pc. Can anybody help me ? -- Marco Nissen [http://www.mpi-sb.mpg.de/~marco] *this posting was not sponsered by microsoft*

It seems to be the linker fault - it tries to link previuos version of libstdc++( not shared ) in. The workaround I used is to exclude old libraries from the linker path.
