Hi,
I need some help on installing libg++-2.5.3 on an SCO v3.2.4.2 system.
Last weekend I tried to install libg++-2.5.3 on the above system, and
failed on compiling libg++/src/Obstack.cc. The following was what I
received:
libg++/src/Obstack.cc:
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/i486-*-sco3.2.4/2.5.8/include/math.h: in function
'double sqr(double)':
in file included from ./builtin.h:33 from Obstack.cc:22:
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/i486-*-sco3.2.4/2.5.8/include/math.h:143:conflicting
types for 'double sqr(double)'.
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/i486-*-sco3.2.4/2.5.8/include/math.h:142:previous
declaration as 'int sqr(int)'
./builtin.h: At top level:
in file included from Obstack.cc:22:
./builtin.h:75:conflicting language contexts for declaration of 'sqr(double)';
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/i486-*0sco3.2.4/2.5.8/include/math.h:143:conflicting
with previous declaration here.
Here is the relevant lines in both header files:
math.h:
142 inline int sqr(int i) {return(i*i);}
143 inline double sqr(double i) {return(i*i);}
builtin.h:
74 int sqr(int arg);
75 double sqr(double arg);
Line 74 was long sqr(long arg). I changed it to int to make it consistent
with the system math.h file.
I was using gcc 2.5.8 which I built from the distribution with any problem.
My understanding was that the above declarations were valid function name
overload. I don't know what the compiler is complaining about. Please help
me solve the problem. Thanks.
BTW, last week some one posted an article on the net showing a site that
has the libg++-2.5.3 sco binary, along with other sco stuff. I lost the
copy of the article. Could someone posted it again, or mail it to me. But
I do like to solve the above problem. I can learn something from it.
