🚀 go-pugleaf

Hello.

I am a CS undergrad at Columbia University. I have a C= Amiga 3000uxD
w 16mb ram at home.

Last night, I d/l libg++-2.2.tar.Z and tried to install it on my
machine.
I did "configure amigaunix"
and then "make"

but this did not work. (the full make listing is unavailable this
moment because I am calling from school, instead from home)

the main problem seemed to be was that a file called "dummy.C" in the
"libg++/" directory.
did not get compiled properly and failed the next stage with the
nm command.

I suspected that the version of gcc that I have do not handle "*.C"
files correctly, so I manually compiled it using a version of g++
that was shiped with my system (sans library) (but g++ did not accept
the "-g" option found in the makefile, which was strange)

but this also failed in the next stage. with nm.

Later tonight, I will mail you the complete output from the makefile.

My hope is that you can provide some sort of short advice on what to
do next.

If at all possible, can you recommend the version of gcc that will work
best with this installation?

Also, I do not have ranlib installed on my machine. So I changed
"RANLIB=ranlib" to "RANLIB=echo" in the makefile on the base
libg++-2.2 directory.
(configure program did not seem to detect that I did not have it
installed)

Was this the correct thing to do (seem to say so in configure.texi) ?
